چکیده
The concept to high-level radioactive waste (HLW) repository generally involves anengineering-artificial barrier system, in which hardly compacted bentonite sand mixture blocks are placed carefully around the canister, and canister is of stiffness design. Placed sandmixture blocks, gradually receive hydration due groundwater. Thermal-hydraulic-mechanical-chemical phenomena after wetting, suction change thermal effort a critical parameter for buffered system This study proposes influence suction, relative humidity thermal-hydraulic on deformation properties mechanical bentonite-sand mixture. A series testing programs prepared such as calibration test changing humiditywith temperatures, measurement volume involving heating determination unconfined compressive strength, performance triaxial compression tests both unsaturated saturated obtained results further interesting, summary provide following. To increment incorporation with produce induces obviously shrinkage mixture, lead decrement strength. Elevated temperature confirm reduction maximum deviator stress using developed apparatus that regardless condition condition.

A nonlinear elastic approach to modelling the hydro-mechanical behaviour of the SEALEX experiments on compacted MX-80 bentonite
Hydraulic seals using compacted sand–bentonite blocks are an important part of the closure phase of deep geological disposal facilities for the isolation of many categories of radioactive wastes. An understanding of the hydromechanical behaviour of these seals and the ability to model their behaviour is a key contribution to safety cases and licence applications. This work reports the developme...
متن کاملThermal and chemical modification of bentonite for adsorption of an anionic dye
Raw bentonite (RB), a known low-cost versatile clay was used as an adsorbent. RB was treated thermally and chemically to increase its adsorption capacity. For thermal treatment (TTB), the bentonite was heated at 400 °C for 60 min, and for the chemical modification, its surface was treated by cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) to prepare organo-modified bentonite (CTAB-B). The removal of Cong...
متن کاملDetermining the unsaturated hydraulic conductivity of a compacted sand-bentonite mixture under constant volume and free-swell conditions
Highly compacted sand-bentonite mixtures are often considered as possible engineered barriers in deep high-level radioactive waste disposals. In-situ, the saturation of these barriers from their initially unsaturated state is a complex hydro-mechanical coupled process in which temperature effects also play a role. The key parameter of this process is the unsaturated hydraulic conductivity of th...

Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU)/clay nanocomposites were prepared via a melt-compounding method using ester type TPU and two different modified organoclays (Cloisite 30B and Cloisite 15A) in different contents. The Effects of the chemical structure and content of the nanoclays on the thermal degradation and mechanical properties of TPU were also investigated. The effect of structural modificat...
متن کاملEffect of Fe3+–MMT on thermal degradation and mechanical behavior of PVP/Amylose nanocomposite films
Novel nanocomposite films based on amylose (AM) and Fe3+-montmorillonite (Fe3+–MMT) in the matrix of poly (vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) were fabricated by using a solution casting method. The X-Ray diffractional analysis indicated that an ion-exchange process occurred between Fe3+–MMT and PVP. Thermogravimetrical analysis (TGA), differential termogravivetrical analy...
